Bay 101 Open pays $621K

The Bay 101 Open was once again a big hit for Bay 101 Casino in San Jose. Held Aug. 22 to 29, the seven events attracted a total of  1,145 entries with the prize pools coming to $621,910

Event #6 was the No-Limit Hold’em Main Event which had 368 players in the two Day 1s for a prize pool of $368,000.

A money deal was made when they reached the final nine survivors, then they played it out for the trophy and seat into next year’s Shooting Star tournament. The last man standing was Mitchell Greenblatt, who took home $32,990 plus the Shooting Star seat valued at $7,500.

The rest of the final table and the order of finish was: 2nd, Triet Nguyen, $34,090; 3rd, Alexander Do, $33,690; 4th, Michael Pearson, $30,760; 5th, Rellie Sigua, $29,400; 6th, Michael Neuberger, $28,330; 7th, Steven Saklad, $24,420; 8th, Jeffrey Day, $23,420; and 9th, Raymond Chan, $15,190.

Play started on Aug. 22 with Event #1, $350 No Limit Hold’em, which had 203 players and a $60,900 prize pool. The final table consisted of: 1st, Karen Pham, $7,400; 2nd, Saurabh Patel, $6,970; 3rd, Daniel Zheng, $6,730; 4th, Bruce Chung, $6,400; 5th, Vamsi Agraharam, $5,590; 6th, Russel Scadina, $4,600; 7th, Phu Nguyen, $4,330; 8th, Saturino Ganancial, $3,870;  and 9th, Brian Li, $2,900.

Event #2, $350 Omaha 8 or Better, had 86 players and a $25,800 prize pool. 1st, Van Tran, $4,340; 2nd, Vinh Pham, $3,750; 3rd, Grant Hanson, $3,620; 4th, Karl Duffy, $3,380; 5th, Scott Numoto, $2,820; 6th, William Derego, $3,930; 7th, Richard Nilmeier, $2,160; 8th, Nicholas Mamaril, $1,030; and 9th, Ronald Matsuura, $770.

Event #3 was $350 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed, and the 194 players made for a prize pool of $58,200. 1st, Paul Richardson, $16,165; 2nd, Moon Kim, $12,525; 3rd, Imad Allahham, $5,240; 4th, Victor Shih, $4,070; 5th, David Kelsey, $3,490; 6th, Govinda Gangadi, $2,910; 7th, Anthony Pierce, $2,330; 8th, Paul “Greg” White, $1,750; and 9th Bong Nguyen, $1,160.

Event #4, $450 No-Limit Hold’em Partners Event, had 73 Teams and a $29,200 prize pool. 1st, Tom Sego / Michael Jen, $7,590; 2nd, Alexander Do / Alex Shiroglazov, $6,200; 3rd, Alejandro Reynoso / Anthony Banuelos, $5,770; 4th, Mike Heshmati / Shahin Shojaeyan, $2,340; 5th, Miles Massone / Mark Zika, $2,040; 6th, Jon Nakatani / Larry Anderson, $1,750; 7th, John Su / Joseph Nguyen, $1,460; 8th, Phaly Nou / Tuong Le, $1,170; and 9th, Troy Carson / Michael Amdal, $880.

Event #5, $550 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo consisted of 128 players and a $64,000 prize pool. 1st, Rellie Sigua, $16,190; 2nd, Christopher Bonita, $10,390; 3rd, Roy Palmer, $8,680; 4th, Brandon Westeren, $7,600; 5th, Vinicius Lima, $3,840; 6th,  Joe Chen, $3,200; 7th, John Dinh, $2,560; 8th, Carlo Castagnetto, $1,920; and 9th, Tri Huynh, $1,280.

The final tournament, Event #7, was $200 No-Limit Hold’em Super Turbo and had 93 players playing for a $15,810 prize pool. 1st, Benson Xu, $3,880; 2nd, Tal Hart, $2,820; 3rd, Abdulaziz Alaquil, 2,660; 4th, Benny Cruz, $2,050; 5th, Cyrus Hatami, $1,110; 6th, Cornel Roman, $950; 7th, Sean Sheik, $790; 8th, D.C., $630; and 9th, Christopher Bonita, $470.
