On Monday, Jan. 16, Livermore Casino joined up with cardrooms nationwide for the annual Restock the Shelves Charity Event. Raffle tickets were sold with the proceeds split between the winner and Livermore’s Tri-Valley Haven, a local safety net for the survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness and hunger. Livermore Casino also donated logo wear to the lucky raffle winners. Tournament players received an additional 1,000 chips for bringing in non-perishable food items.
Over the last four months 40 players qualified for Livermore Casino’s Rolling Thunder playoff tournament. This resulted in Livermore Casino sending five of their tournament players to the $3,500 buy-in WPT Rolling Thunder Circuit at Thunder Valley Casino Resort on Saturday, March 11.
Livermore Casino is hosting a new challenge for its tournament players. February through May will be the qualifying period for their Insider Tournament. Rather than sending their tournament players to play in an outside event, Livermore Casino will use that $20,000+ prize pool money for their qualifiers to win among themselves. The four-table qualifying tournament will be held on Sunday, June 4.
Tournament players can earn a seat into the Insider Tournament by playing in their weekly tournaments. To earn a seat, a point system is in place for players who finish in the money at the final table. Points are totaled monthly during the qualifying period. The top 10 point earners each month receive a seat into Livermore Casinos Insider Tournament Main Event.
If a player in the top 10 has already qualified in a previous month, the next highest point earner will receive the playoff seat. Each month begins a new qualifying period which gives all non-qualified players a chance to be in the monthly top 10. Points earned during the qualifying period will determine your playoff starting chips, which range from 6,000 to 12,000.
If players need more points to qualify, double points can be earned in all of their Sunday 11:00 a.m. tournaments, their $120 buy-in Bounty Tournament, which is the last evening tournament of the month, and also their monthly Deep Stack Tournament which is on the third Saturday of the month. The buy-in for the Deep Stack is $175 with a start time at 10:00 a.m. (signups at 9:00 a.m.). It has 20-minute rounds, 15,000 in starting chips and a $2,000 first place guarantee. January’s Deep Stack Tournament paid over $3,800 for first place.
Livermore Casino has 12 tournaments weekly, with buy-ins ranging from $45 to $120, all with $1,000 first place guarantees. Note that any special event tournaments will supersede regularly scheduled weekly tournaments. Please check their tournament listing in the back pages of this issue (or on their website at livermorecasino.net). For more details, contact tournament staffers Nick or Danny at 925-447-1702 x205.
