It took over three years and 10 major tournament events, but it finally happened. Livermore Casino has been sending players to major events for a few years now, in hopes of someone scoring a major win. On March 11, they sent five of their tournament players to the $3,500 buy-in WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. One of those five players, John Hadley, beat out 417 players to take fourth place and more than $83,000.
Livermore Casino is currently hosting a new challenge for its tournament players. February through May will be the qualifying period for their Insider Tournament. Rather than sending their tournament players to play in an outside event, Livermore Casino will use that $15,000+ prize pool money for their qualifiers to win amongst themselves. The 40 finalists will play in the Insider Main Event tournament, which will be held at Livermore Casino on Sunday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m.
Tournament players can earn a seat into the Insider Tournament by playing in any of their daily tournaments. To earn a seat, a point system is in place for players who finish in the money at the final table of any of these tournaments. Points are totaled each month during the qualifying period. The top 10 point earners each month will receive a seat into Livermore Casino’s Insider Tournament Main Event.
If a player in the top 10 has already qualified in a previous month, the next highest point earner will receive a seat. Each month begins a new qualifying period, which gives all non-qualified players a chance to be in the monthly top 10. Total points earned during the qualifying period will determine playoff starting chips, which range from 9,000 to 15,000.
If players need more points to qualify, double points can be earned in all of their 11:00 a.m. Sunday tournaments, their $120 buy-in Bounty Tournaments, (which is the last evening tournament of the month), and their monthly Deep Stack Tournament, held on the third Saturday of the month. The buy-in for the Deep Stack is $175 with a start time of 10:00 a.m. (sign-ups at 9:00 a.m.). It has 20-minute rounds, 15,000 in starting chips, and a $2,000 first place guarantee. April’s Deep Stack Tournament paid over $3,700 for first place.
The qualifying period for Livermore Casino’s next promotional tournament event is June 1 through September 30. Check their website for event updates.
Livermore Casino has 12 tournaments weekly, with buy-ins ranging from $45 to $120, all with $1,000 first place guarantees. Note that any special event tournament will supersede regularly scheduled weekly tournaments. Please check their tournament listing in the back pages of this issue (or on their website at LivermoreCasino.net). For more details, contact tournament staffers, Nick or Danny, at 925-447-1702 x205.
