$1m Championship at Thunder Valley

One million dollars is up for grabs at Thunder Valley Casino Resort as they host the Ante Up World Championship Series from July 21 through Aug. 7. The series offers 20 events, four with a six figure guarantee and over a million dollars in guaranteed prize money.

Thunder Valley Casino Resort is pushing Northern California poker to take the next step by offering a schedule that is unlike any ever seen in the region. The $1,650 buy-in at the World Championship is from Aug. 5 to 7 and boasts a $500,000 guarantee; the largest Thunder Valley has offered to date. The two-flight main event will open up to a larger audience and provide increased value with the half-million-dollar guarantee for the traveling player. This Championship Series includes not only more events, but longer ones, more flights, more satellites, and most of all more guaranteed money.

“The 2016 Ante Up World Championship is a culmination of what has been tested and tried since we jumped into this arena in 2012,” said Ben Erwin, Director of Poker. “Over the years, working hand-in-hand with the players, we have offered a wide range of games, buy-ins, and guarantees. This experience has yielded some amazing events that brought us to the 2016 Ante Up World Championship.”

WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage will oversee the main event. Three other multi-flight events will be featured, including the $100K guarantee $155 Catapult that kicks off the series with five flights, the $250K guarantee four flight $425 Monolith on the second weekend and the $100K guarantee three-flight Action 8, where eight percent of each flight advances to Day 2.

Players looking to get into a variety of events as inexpensively as possible will appreciate the expansive satellite schedule for Events 9, 12, 15 and the main event with a combination of multi-table and single-table options. Buy-ins range from $50 to $365 and many have guaranteed seats.

Also new this year is a Player of the Series race, which will be separate from the points all cashers earn in the Ante Up Poker Tour Player of the Year race. The final prelim is the Heads-Up Championship on August 4 that has increased points for the event by 25 percent. The increase will keep the series title in reach for a strong number of participants and adds the excitement of a heads-up event.
