The contest to be named the 2012 Northern California Poker Tournament Player of the Year began on Jan. 1 and runs until the end of November, so we’re just over halfway to the finish line.
Our 2011 champion, Rellie Sigua of San Bruno has led for most of the year and seems to be well on his way to claiming the title again. However, with five months worth of tournaments still to come, anything can happen.
While Sigua has remained fairly consistently in the lead, the top ten spots have changed dramatically each month. If someone gets on a heater for any length of time, who’s to say how many points might come their way?
San Francisco’s L. Chow, who led for much of 2011, has made a steady climb up the chart to take over second place. Two others that have made significant progress are E. Rivas of Hayward and A. Martin of Castro Valley who have made it to fifth and sixth places respectively.
