City Council in Elk Grove approves casino deal

In late September the Elk Grove City Council, after much debate and contention, approved a deal with the Wilton Rancheria which includes revenue sharing for the city.

The $400 million facility would be located near Grant Line Road near Highway 99 and would include a 12-story, 302-room hotel, restaurants, entertainment facility, and convention center in addition to the casino floor. The site is currently that of an unfinished shopping mall where construction stopped during the recession.

The $132 million, 20-year deal with the city of Elk Grove is meant to offset the impacts of their development.

The tribe still needs approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior, to be followed by a gambling agreement with the state of California.
