The Cordova Casino in Rancho Cordova is stepping up their poker game under general manager Peter Nairn and casino manager Jerad Horstman. “We have a whole list of promotions and ideas that we want to do. Our plans are to do a lot,” said Horstman.
Right off the bat they have two buy-in promotions starting Jan. 6. The morning bonus of $40 gets you $60 in their $1/2 no-limit games runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Their evening bonus of $80 gets you $100 is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Both the morning and evening bonuses are paid after two hours of play.
They have also started a mini bad beat jackpot that pays $5,000 for aces full of deuces beaten by four of a kind.
Also coming up is the Cordova Poker Championship tournament on Feb. 15 and 16. The buy-in will be $220 for 8,000 chips; however, if you buy-in before Feb. 1 you get an an extra 2,000 chips. Plus you can get another 2,000 chips for a $10 dealer appreciation for a potential starting stack of 12,000 chips.
There will be two starting sessions on Saturday, Feb. 15, one starting at 10:00 a.m. and the other at 7:00 p.m. The next day’s final will start at noon. The first three rounds will be 20 minutes, then after the break rounds will be 30 minutes. There will be no re-buys or add-ons, but re-entries and late entries will be accepted. The expected prize pool is $20,000 based on 100 entries.
