Derby hosting annual POY tournament

For the fourth year in a row the Lucky Derby Casino in Citrus Heights will be holding a special tournament in honor of the Northern California Poker Tournament Player of the Year. This year’s special guest will once again be Rellie Sigua who repeated as champion in 2012 after winning in 2011.

“Every year the Derby has held this event it’s been a big success and very popular with the players, some of whom came from far away to take a shot at the POY champ,” said The Cardroom’s editor Randall Rapp. “I know Rellie really enjoyed himself last year and is looking forward to coming back again, just like I am. Put this one on your calendar and make the trip to Citrus Heights as a good time will be had by all.”

The $55 “Player of the Year” Rellie Sigua Mega Deep Stack Poker Tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 5:00 p.m. Players will start with 15,000 in chips and whoever knocks out Sigua will receive a $500 cash bounty.

Just like last year, the Derby will be using the event to help out local schools. Bring in school supplies for the kids and receive extra starting chips—1,000 extra chips for every school supply (up to 5,000 chips). This year players will also have the option of taking advantage of one add-on at the end of the fourth level. For $50 players receive 15,000 additional chips.

Come to the Derby on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6:00 p.m. for their “Kiss My Ace” Mega Deep Stack No Limit Poker Tournament. Your $105 buy-in will get you 15,000 in starting chips.

The Derby’s $55 “But It Was Suited” Mega Deep Stack Poker Tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 6:00 p.m. Players start with 15,000 in chips and there will be one $50 add-on for 15,000 additional chips.
