On April 13 and 14 Feather Falls Casino & Lodge hosted a special deep stack tournament with a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool and a buy-in of $220. The actual prize pool wound up at $25,000 with 61 players in the first session, 52 more in the second, and 12 re-entries for a total of 125.
Fifty-nine returned for the Sunday finale, as a double elimination at the end of the night session reduced the expected number by one. Fifteen would make the money and shoot for the first-place prize of more than $7,000.
Feather Falls also threw in an excellent pizza and salad lunch on Sunday. To add to the festivities, someone even brought a big birthday cake for one of the regulars in the tournament.
At the end, the final six players couldn’t resist a chop. Bryan Flicker, Joseph Long, Robert Nowak, Joe O’Banion, Tim Reilly, and David Weaver each received $3,319 for their efforts.
The event was considered a big success. Table games director Harvey Gramps said, “We were very happy with the turnout and are definitely planning on having another $20K guarantee in the near future.”
