Federal judge dismisses lawsuit v. Chukchansi

In August a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by Florida’s Osceola Blackwood Ivory Gaming Group (OBIG) against the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians, owners of Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino in Coarsegold.

OBIG claimed the tribe had agreed to pay them 40 percent of their net revenue over seven years as part of an agreement to manage the property after its reopening in 2015 following an inter-tribal feud.

The tribe wanted the lawsuit dismissed, claiming it didn’t belong in federal court, and U.S. District Court Judge Dale A. Drozd agreed.

The suit has since been refiled in Fresno County Superior Court.
