In Memory of Mi Kim

By Mark Lamb

Before I begin I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy New Year and lots of luck in whatever your endeavors may be in 2012.

I would also like to take a moment to remember a close friend of the poker community who recently passed away. Mi Kim was tenacious and fearless on the felt with a special blend of compassion and love. She lived her life the very same way. Mi put others before herself in the most giving and unselfish way any person can. I will never forget the amazing woman she was. Her passing was truly a tragic loss for all those who crossed paths with her life.

For those who have experienced great loss or tragedy in life, my heart goes out to you. Often times we (especially poker players) lose sight of the special ingredients in life. We tend to get caught up in the swings of our own personal life. We overvalue the lesser problems in this world and overlook the greater ones. We covet the small daily wins and forget the overall losses. This year I hope to carry the wisdom gained from the last, and remember to relish the things I wake up with each day; Health, life, family, and friends. I pray that you too, will find greater importance in greater things.
