Insider Tourney a hit at Livermore Casino

On June 4 Livermore Casino held their first in-house Main Event, the Insider Tournament, with 40 finalists vying for their share of a $20,000 prize pool. The tournament went off without a hitch and left their players hungry for more.

Their loyal tournament players endured a four-month qualifying period, February through May, with each month producing a roster of the top 10 point earners. Rather than sending their winners to play in an outside event as they have many times in the recent past, Livermore Casino used the $20,000 prize pool money for their qualifiers to win among themselves in the Insider Tournament.

In the end, Darren Horn—as the final table chip leader—was declared the champion. He chose to forego his shot at the $7,800 first place prize in order to share the $20,000 prize pool with the whole final table. This resulted in first through fourth place each taking home $2,700, with the remainder shared amongst the six others players.

Livermore Casino began a new qualifying period for their next promotional tournament event, with a qualifying period of June 1 through Sept. 30. Check out their website for event updates.

If a player in the top 10 has already qualified in a previous month during the qualifying period, the next highest point earner will receive a seat into the Main Event. The player point system restarts each month, which gives all non-qualified players a chance to be in the next monthly top 10. Total points earned during the entire qualifying period determine playoff starting chips, which typically range from 8,000 to 15,000.

Double points can be earned in all of their Sunday 11:00 a.m. tournaments, their $120 buy-in Bounty Tournament (which is the last evening tournament of the month), and their monthly Deep Stack Tournament (which is on the third Saturday of the month). The buy-in for the Deep Stack is $175 with a start time of 10:00 a.m. (sign-ups at 9:00 a.m.). It has 20-minute rounds, 15,000 in starting chips, and a $2,000 first place guarantee. June’s Deep Stack Tournament paid over $3,200 for first place.

Livermore Casino has 12 tournaments weekly, with buy-ins ranging from $45 to $120, all with $1,000 first place guarantees. Note that any special event tournament will supersede regularly scheduled weekly tournaments.
