The Battle of the Bay was recently fought once again at Lucky Chances Casino in Colma, featuring $190,000 worth of prize money guaranteed to first place finishers.
The three-day Main Event, which guaranteed $100,000 to first place, concluded on April 30. Wilson Chan was declared the champion after a two-way chop at the final table. He took home $126,800. The $1,080 buy-in tournament had 565 total entries creating a prize pool of $565,000.
Starting the week off was Event #1 with a $600 buy-in and $40,000 guaranteed to first. There were 377 entries and a $207,350 prize pool. After a six-way chop Matthew Luther claimed the largest share—$32,860—and the win.
Next up was a $350 buy-in that had 227 entries for a prize pool of $72,640 and guaranteed $20,000 for first. A nine-way chop netted top finisher Alex Pang $10,835.
The following day’s tournament had the same buy-in and guarantee. This time there were 261 entries for an $83,520 prize pool. A two-way chop brought winner TomTom Nguyen $29,220.
The penultimate event was a turbo tournament with a $200 buy-in and $10,000 first place guarantee. There were 200 entries creating a prize pool of $36,000. A five-way chop brought first place and $7,300 to Matthew Betti.
