NorCal Classic at Thunder Valley

In September the Poker Room at Thunder Valley Casino Resort hosted its first nationally-televised poker event when the Heartland Poker Tour stopped in Lincoln as part of its west coast Gold Rush Series. On the heels of that successful poker tour event, Thunder Valley will host another major tour stop when the second annual $250,000 guaranteed NorCal Classic comes to Thunder Valley Nov. 15–18.

Reality TV star and Heartland Poker Tour commentator Maria Ho made an appearance during the Heartland Poker Tour event along with some of biggest names in poker, including Sacramento’s own J.C. Tran and ESPN’s WSOP commentator Lon McEachern. The event attracted over 500 participants, exceeding all expectations for the first Heartland Poker Tour stop in Northern California.

Michael Rosenbach of Berkley survived 10 hours play on the final table to come out on top. After 25 hands of heads up play he won more than $180,000. He bested Mel Weiner of Calabasas who took home over $110,000 for second place.

“We were excited to host the Heartland Poker Tour on its inaugural stop in Northern California,” said Ben Erwin, Poker Director at Thunder Valley. “We pride ourselves on always responding to our players’ feedback and this event cements our commitment to hosting major poker events. I would like to personally congratulate Michael Rosenbach for being our first HPT champion at Thunder Valley.”

The NorCal Classic will kick off Nov. 7 and feature a $150,000 no-limit Hold‘em deep stack event on Nov. 10. The series will offer a six handed event, bounty tournaments, Omaha 8 or better, and HORSE. The final table for the NorCal Classic Main Event and Deep Stack event will be broadcast live on the Thunder Valley Poker Room blog at http://poker

“Last year the NorCal Classic was our biggest event ever at the time and we want to build on the success of that success,” said Erwin “We are offering pre-series satellites beginning Nov. 2 for players to earn entry into the NorCal Classic Main Event. The satellite buy-ins range from $65 to $240, so there will be an opportunity for everyone to have a chance to play in $1,100 buy-in main event.”

The NorCal Classic and Heartland Poker Tour are two of largest events held at the Poker Room in Lincoln, but there are opportunities to win big every day as well.

This fall also sees the return of the Monday Night Blitz during Monday night football games. Players can win their share of $3,500 each week during the promotion. Four Of A Kind Rush also continues every Tuesday and Thursday. Players win $200 for making any qualifying four-of-a-kind, and then win $500 for every qualifying four-of-a-kind they make for the remainder of that promotional day.
