WPT California Swing Kickoff
The Poker Room at Thunder Valley Casino Resort will ring in 2015 with a schedule that includes two major tournaments in the month of January. Beginning New Year’s Day, the World Poker Tour California Swing Kickoff consists of three events that culminate with their One Day $100K no-limit Hold’em tournament.
Following the California Swing format, with redraw to six-handed tables with 36 players remaining, the One Day $100K has a $400 buy-in with one re-entry allowed. This event is the perfect tune-up for the WPT series coming to Thunder Valley in March.
The Final Table of the WPT California Swing Kickoff will be hosted by World Poker Tour Director Matt Savage at 7 p.m. on Jan. 3. The winner of the satellite final table will join Team TV Poker and play in all three stops of the California Swing this March. During the month of March, the WPT California Swing makes three tournament stops that include the L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino, the Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose, and the Rolling Thunder Event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort.
“It’s always great to have Matt Savage visit,” said Ben Erwin, poker director at Thunder Valley. “He will be calling all aspects of the action during the WPT California Swing Satellite Final Table and the One Day $100K. Then he will return in March during the final event of the California Swing for WPT Rolling Thunder.”
Heartland Poker Tour
The Heartland Poker Tour is returning to Thunder Valley Casino Resort Jan. 15 to 26 with pre-qualifying series events beginning Jan. 9. The HPT series will offer 13 events including the $1,650 buy-in Main Event Jan. 22 to 26. The tournaments offered will include no-limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha 8 or better, H.O.R.S.E., Open Face Chinese Pineapple and, for the first time, Pot Limit Omaha.
The nationally-televised final table will transpire at Thunder Valley’s Red Lantern Restaurant and be broadcast live online through The Poker Room’s blog at http://pokerroom.thundervalleyresort. com/.
“We are excited to offer a schedule that includes new events and satellites,” said Erwin. “The new events include PLO, Open Face Chinese, and the $540 HPT Qualifier that advances 30 percent of the field to the Main Event.”
Cash in with Queens
Thunder Valley Casino Resort is also offering guests a chance to “Cash in with Queens” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Jan. 5. During the Cash in with Queens promotion, Poker Room guests can win from $100 to $300 for making three-of-a-kind, four-of-a-kind, or full house qualifying hands. Guests must be participating in a jackpot-eligible live action poker game to win.
