WPT coming to Thunder Valley

With the World Poker Tour making its inaugural stop at Thunder Valley Casino Resort March 14 to 19, the Poker Room at Thunder Valley continues to cement its status in the region for providing an excellent poker experience. The WPT Rolling Thunder at Thunder Valley will complete the WPT California Swing, which also includes the WPT L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino and the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose.

Poker professional and the world’s all-time leader in poker winnings, Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari, will make a celebrity appearance at Thunder Valley’s poker room from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 16.

The WPT Royal Flush Girls will be on hand throughout the week of the WPT Rolling Thunder event along with WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage, who will oversee all aspects of the action throughout the Main Event running from March 15 to 19. Other members of WPT’s on-air talent team, such as commentator Vince Van Patten, will also be in attendance to announce “shuffle up and deal” when the tournament begins.

The WPT Rolling Thunder includes six events starting with the $100,000 guaranteed deep stack to kick off the series on March 14. That is followed by Six-Handed Hold’em, Black Chip Bounty, H.O.R.S.E. events and the $3,500 buy-in Main Event. The WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event final table on March 19 will also be broadcast live online on the poker room’s blog at http://pokerroom.thunder valleyresort.com/.

“We continue to listen to our guests’ feedback and there is definitely a unanimous demand for high-profile tournaments with the opportunity to win big,” said Ben Erwin, Poker Director at Thunder Valley. “The World Poker Tour will attract many first-time players to the area and offer everyone a chance at national exposure. But even while the Poker Room raises its profile on the national stage, we still offer the best opportunities to our loyal guests with dozens of satellite tournaments to win seats at the big tournaments.”

The WPT Rolling Thunder comes on the heels of Heartland Poker Tour’s nationally-televised stop at Thunder Valley in January. The winner was Exequiel Fernando, who turned $720 into $179,020 by winning the event. Fernando bested over 500 entrants in the event that kicked off HPT’s tenth season.

The World Series of Poker satellite qualifying also returns to the Poker Room at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. Guests can earn hours toward the 100-hour and 175-hour satellites from March 21 to May 18. The Poker Room will award five entries into the $10,000 buy-in main event. For the first time Thunder Valley will offer WSOP buy-in satellites in April.

Four of a Kind Bonus also continues every Tuesday and Thursday. Players win $200 for making any qualifying four-of-a-kind, and then win $500 for every qualifying four-of-a-kind they make for the remainder of that promotional day.
